NetResources Link Pages

Sorry, the NetResources Link Page you were trying to visit is no longer available.

You have been redirected to this web page from an old NetCommish.com NetResources link page that was part of a collection of web links offered by the U.S. Scouting Service Project, Inc. and maintained by The NetCommish. Those link pages are no longer available. Instead we encourage you to use a search engine to find the Scouting resources you need. If you wish to limited your search to known Scouting web sites, you can use this site’s Search Top Scouting Sites or Search All U.S. Scouting Service Project web sites features.

Why? What happened to all the links?

The U.S. Scouting Service Project, Inc. web sites started in 1994 along with MacScouter.com and NetCommish.com. In those early days search engine technology was fairly immature and many people were struggling with the then new phenomenon of web sites. So Scouters from each web site collaborated to build an easy to use index of web sites offering content of interest to Scouts and Scouters. That collection grew to an unmanageable size of over 20,000 links to external web sites.

Over the next twenty years several efforts were made to update all of the links, but the pace of changes in web addresses outpaced our volunteer efforts to keep them up-to-date. Eventually “link rot” reduced the number of working links to less than 25% of the links in our collection. Many of the remaining links did not work or led to addresses that had changed from Scouting related to content to non-family friendly content. Rather than continue to provide out-of-date and inaccurate information, we took the decision to remove all of the links and ask our visitors to instead use search engines to get more accurate links to relevant Scouting related content.

Where can I find an archive copy of those old link pages?

We recommending using archive.org to search for archives of older web pages that are no longer available.
