Bogus Email – Andy Not In Scotland

This morning we have had a rash of emails to us via web forms and regular email asking about emails that appear to have come from one or more of these addresses:

AskAndy@yahoo.com

AskAndyL@yahoo.com

AskAndyBSA@yahoo.com

The text of the message indicates that Andy has been robbed in Scotland and needs your money.

Rest assured that Andy is not in Scotland and is not asking for you to send him money. The email is bogus and an attempt to get recipients to reveal personal information including credit card information. Please do not reply to the email or provide any information in response to it.

We are not sure whether the email account was spoofed or hacked, but the net result is the same. Emails that appear to be from our columnist are hitting inboxes and they are all fakes.

Andy is working with Yahoo to resolve the matter.
