Formalization of Informal Training

Saw a Twitter comment that it was interesting that this training was a formalization of informal training. Busted – it sure is. But that may not be a bad thing.

This training course was originally developed via the Scouts-L email discussion list as a collaborative effort among many Scouters and then used locally at the Council level in the late 1990’s and early part of the last decade. Other Scouters heard about it and wanted to be able to borrow the content and so the training was packaged up for the web where anyone can use it.

While there is value in using the online version, I think it would be best to use this material as an extra at a University of Scouting or local training event. Informal live training with robust discussion will always trump sterile online reading any day. So, if you like what you see and want to use this in your local area as the starting point for discussion, please feel free to do just that. Please do remember to give credit and link back to this site. Thanks!
